Over the past several years, my teams at NIRIX have been busy working in the background designing, building, and testing our next-generation product, or more accurately, a new platform. It has been a long winding road with many obstacles and challenges, to say the least. The official launch of our new product, oneWorkspace 365 (OWS 365), is getting ever closer to reality. Offering cutting-edge technology, highly secure infrastructure, rich high-definition user experience, and much broader support and integration with modern applications, devices, and systems required by today’s businesses. But wait, what exactly is oneWorkspace 365?
oneWorkspace 365 is the culmination of the best features from our existing products that you are already familiar with; oneExchange, oneBackup, oneRecovery, oneFileSync, oneDesktop, and oneServer further improved with today’s best technology and innovation. Each of these services today offers a different technical solution and experience. With the launch of OWS 365, customers will have the ability to access all of the features and benefits they have come to rely on with their current service(s) with added flexibility to expand and customize their solution as their business changes accessible under a single product framework.
A common question I get regarding the new platform is “What does the transition look like for customers on existing services?” Each of the existing services will have its own transition timeline, with all services leading to OWS 365. Take a look at the attached roadmap above titled "Roadmap to oneWorkspace 365" to see the details about our plans for the launch of OWS 365. Hopefully, the roadmap will give your organization plenty of time to plan your transition to OWS 365.
You may notice that the timeline has three major milestones:
Early Access Program (EAP): This is when an existing customer can gain pre-launch access to the equivalent service on the new OWS 365 platform. This is a good opportunity for existing customers that want to test or gain access to new features that are not currently available with the existing service. If customers wish they can start migrating to OWS 365, to get ahead of the rush that often is the case when it becomes Generally Available. For example, for oneBackup customers, reaching EAP means customers can test or even pre-transition their oneBackup service to the new Data Protection & Disaster Recovery component of OWS 365.
General Availability (GA): This is the next phase in the timeline, when a service component of OWS 365 has reached full production status, and is available to the general public. This phase follows our standard support process, framework, and operational standards. Once a service component of OWS 365 reaches General Availability, existing customers are migrated on a first come first serve priority basis.
End of Life (EOL): This is the final phase of the timeline when each of the existing oneBackup, oneExchange, oneDesktop, oneServer, and oneFilesync services will officially come to their end of life and service. The service will no longer be sold nor supported by NIRIX and will be officially decommissioned. Existing customers that have not already migrated to OWS 365 will no longer have access to their service.
oneWorkspace 365 simplifies your digital workspace, making it more efficient overall, and delivering a rich seamless user experience. It offers many benefits such as seamless integration with a broader set of legacy and modern applications, lowering your company’s IT costs, a highly secured and protected environment, and overall, a richer and seamless user experience for modern businesses of today.
