“With our previous IT provider we were paying approximately $40,000 a year for them to host our Citrix hardware and maintain it. Now this is also just nominal dollars and does not include the down time that we would incur do to hardware breakdowns. A person needs to analyze the “cheaper” providers and know if it is an all-in contract like Nirix’s or if there are incidentals on top of the base fee. We had constant maintenance to pay for both hardware and software, which were not included. Any time we needed IT assistance, it was not included.
In the three years that we have been with Nirix we have had 0 down time. With our previous provider we had 2 MAJOR incidents of down time.
The first one there had been an accident close to where our server was being housed and someone had ran into the power pole. This meant there was no power to the office, therefore we had no server and no email. We were down for half a day till it was fixed which is major for a company that is web based.
The other was when we were on holidays our server crashed. This was after Nirix had taken over housing our server and we had to give them access to the secure location so that they could service it. It was major stress and ruined 1 day of our family vacation. Again there was no server and no email for an entire day.
In July we were able to go on vacation with no worries about our server crashing. I was able to log into oneDesktop on my iPad while in Mexico and had no problem with speed. It was great!”
