MANAGED WIRELESS INTERNET - FAQ
No hassles, carrier grade, last mile high speed Internet access.  Start connecting.

What are some of the major differences between Nirix's Managed Wireless Internet
       vs. competing ADSL offerings?

ADSL is an asynchronous high-speed service meaning the upload speed is not the same as the
download speed. ADSL offerings are popular among consumer, residential, and SOHO
environments where the Internet is generally used as a tool to download or search for
information. Hence the download speed, also the advertised speed, is often much faster than the
upload speed. This "high speed" is really only one-way. In a scenario where a business has
multiple-sites, there is often a need to exchange a measureable amount of data between branch
offices and the head office. For performance to be acceptable, it requires the upload speed and the
download speed to be of similar speed. Nirix's Managed Wireless Internet is a synchronous Internet
connection service meaning if you subscribe to a 10 Mbps service, your download AND upload
speeds are the same. When you subscribe to an 1.5 Mbps ADSL service, your download speed is
1.5 Mbps but your upload is only 640 Kbps (or only about half of your download speed!).

What is the difference between a licensed wireless spectrum versus an unlicensed
       wireless spectrum?

Running on a licensed wireless spectrum is like having a reserved parking lot. You own the slot,
meaning you are assured your space whenever you need it. In the wireless world, if you have a
licensed spectrum, it means you are the only vendor licensed to use a specific range of frequencies
for transmission. Having this capability means much better security, significantly less interference,
and error-free transmissions. Unlicensed spectrums are often used by consumer grade products or
commodity products which often results in poor performance or lots of dropped connections.

What is the standard service level for the Nirix Managed Wireless Internet service?

All Managed Wireless Internet services are backed by our state of the art Network Operations
Centre (NOC) and our 99.9% service level agreement.

Is the Managed Wireless Internet service redundant?

With Nirix's Managed Wireless Internet service, your connection to our network will leave your
building on a diverse physical path utilizing a fixed wireless broadband connection linking your
business to multiple tier 1 Internet carriers via a self healing, fully redundant ring. The network was
designed from the ground up to be redundant.

Will the performance of our Internet service be affected by weather with the
       Managed Wireless Internet service?

Performance will be unaffected by weather. Nirix's Managed Wireless Internet service has been
designed and engineered for up to a Category 1 tornado. Lack of appropriate engineering and
design is the major reason most wireless solutions perform inconsistently under varying
       weather conditions.

How fast can my business upgrade to a "bigger pipe" if I need?

Businesses can scale up to a "bigger pipe" on demand. With a simple phone call to our Customer
Service centre, we can turn up your Managed Wireless Internet service to a higher, faster
       Internet service.

How long will it take to get the Managed Wireless Internet service installed?

Once you have signed up, and the paper work is completed, the service should be up and
       operational with 2-3 weeks.

What is required to sign on to the Managed Wireless Internet service?

Our service requires the installation of a radio structure and this is typically installed on the roof of
your facility. If you currently lease the building, then we will require the permission of the landlord to
install the equipment. This is generally not a problem. In addition, you will be required to have a
router or firewall appliance that can connect to a CAT5/CAT5e cable. Your IT department should
be assists you with this information. If however, you prefer to not have to deal with all the technical
details of connecting your business network to our wireless Internet service, we also have a
complimentary Managed Firewall / VPN service that we can bundle with your Internet service for a
       full end-to-end solution.
