MANAGED IP TELEPHONY - FAQ
Leverage the power of IP. Voice, Data, Video, all converged on one secure network.
How easy will it be to make changes or move phones?
One of the benefits of IP telephony is its flexibility. An employee moving from one campus building to
another, for instance, can simply take the IP phone along, plug it into the new location, and start
talking. But the service provider needs to give the customer an easy-to-use set of tools for
managing such changes.
What level of support is offered?
Voice communications are critical to nearly every company. So what will happen if the IP network
goes down, taking the VoIP applications with it? A customer needs to know how many employees
the service provider devotes to IP telephony support, their level of training, and whether they're
available around the clock.
Will my existing network have enough bandwidth to support voice and data on the
same network?
Some legacy network infrastructures simply can not handle the voice requirements needed to
support VoIP along with their existing data traffic. To support the bandwidth requirements of IP
telephony applications such as multimedia conferencing, these needs must be planned for in the
critical design stage and integrated into the overall costs of migrating to IP telephony.
How involved will the provider be in planning with me?
Nirix will take all the necessary steps to understand your company's business objectives as well as
its telephony needs. Based on the findings of our engineers, Nirix will deploy the Managed IP
Telephony service accordingly.
Is Nirix Technology certified by Cisco?
Yes, Nirix Technology has been a Cisco partner since it's inception. Ideally, companies with Cisco
hardware and software in place should use a service provider that has built its network with Cisco
equipment. This provides end-to-end quality; simplified, cost-efficient network management; higher
network availability; and services that are more reliable, scalable, secure, and easy to deploy and
expand as your needs change. To help companies identify such providers, Cisco developed its
Cisco Powered Network program. Service providers that carry the Cisco Powered Network logo
use Cisco equipment in their networks end to end and follow best practices in design, operations,
and maintenance.

"Don’t be fooled into thinking companies aren’t paying much for M.A.C.s (Moves, Adds, Changes) in their existing PBX phone system.. M.A.C. work is the fundamental “after-the-sale” revenue producers for many telecommunications providers. Don’t believe it? The fact that this market has thrived for three decades is a direct result of the dollars companies spend for these services."
