MANAGED BACKUP - CONFIRMING THAT THE BACKUP SCHEDULER IS OPERATING
Your online resource for Managed Backup

Before you can start backing up data to Nirix Technology’s Remote Backup Server, you need to install the NirixRBA (Remote Backup Agent) onto your computer. For a free trial account, you can visit our web site and sign up for a new account.

If you have a scheduled backup job to run automatically on a pre-defined schedule and you notice that perhaps it is not running as you expect, you can follow the instruction below to ensure that your backup scheduler is running.

Installation instructions for Windows clients only.

Step 1
From your START menu, go to [All Programs] -> [Administrative Tools] -> [Services]

Step 2
In your Services window, look for the service named [Online Backup Scheduler]. Ensure that the service is there and is in a started state.

If the "Online Backup Scheduler" is not in a started state, please start the service.

If the "Online Backup Scheduler" is not there, you will have to uninstall the re-install the Remote Backup Agent.

Other things to check:

1. Check if C:\Program Files\Nirix Managed Backup\home.txt contains the home directory for your backup account
(e.g C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\.obm - if you are logged in as the Administrator on the computer/server.
Replace your login name for Administrator so that you can navigate to the proper path)

2. Check if C:\Program Files\Nirix Managed Backup\jvm\bin\SchedulerOBM.exe exists. If it does not exist, you may have a
corrupted install. Please uninstall and re-install the Nirix Remote Backup Agent again. You can download the files from our
website at http://mgbk.nirix.com.
