MANAGED BACKUP - RESTORING DATA VIA THE WEB
Your online resource for Managed Backup

Before you can start restoring data from Nirix Technology’s Remote Backup Server, you will need to have the proper Java2 client installed on your computer (Java2 Runtime environment 1.4.1 or above is required for proper operations). To download the latest Java2 client you can go to:
http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp.
Installation instructions for Windows 95/98/ME/XP/2000/2003 clients only.
Step 1
Please ensure that you have the latest Java2 Runtime Environment (Java client) installed. Any version above version 1.4.1 will work. To download the latest Java2 client, you can go to http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp to download and install the latest Java2 client (if required).
Step 2
Once you have the Java client installed, proceed to log into the Intelligent Network Systems (INS) Portal login from the computer or system for which you would like to restore the files to.

Step 3
Once you have successfully logged into the Managed Backup Portal, click the [RESTORE] link.

Step 4
At the restore page, you should see all of your backup sets that you have previously configured. Click on the backup set that you want to restore the files from (e.g. FileBackupSet1, MSSQLBackupSet1, ExchangeBackupSet1, or what ever unique name you called the backup set.) Keep clicking and drilling down into the backup set until you get to the file/directories for which you would like to restore.

Step 5
Once you have found the files / directories that you would like to restore, simply select it from the set (see below) and a check mark should appear beside all the files / directories that you would like restored. Once you have finalized your selection, click the [RESTORE] button to continue the restore process.

Step 6
You should now see the window similar to the one below. Please wait until the Java applet finishes initialization.

You may also see a pop up window like the one below. Check on the "Always trust content from this publisher" and then click the [RUN] button to continue.

Step 7
You should now see the Restore button appear like the picture shown below. Click the [RESTORE] button to continue the restore process.

Step 8
A new window should pop-up like the one below.

Fill in the information as required in the following fields:
[RESTORE FILES TO] : In this field you can choose where you would like the files to be restored to on your system OR you may choose to restore to a mapped network drive. You can use the [BROWSE] button to navigate to where you want to restore the files to.
[DECRYPTING KEY] : Enter the ORIGINAL encryption key that you used as the encryption key for this backup set. By default when you first created the backup set, the agent uses your Login password as the encryption key. If you choose to use that as your encryption key then that is the encryption key you would enter here.
[NOTE] : Once a backup set is created and an encryption key is assigned to the backup set, it CAN NOT be changed. This is to protect the integrity of your encrypted files. Even when you decide to change your Login password this DOES NOT automatically change the encryption key on your backup sets! So please ensure that when you create your backup sets, you document and store your encryption keys and to which sets it relates to in a safe and recoverable place. If you lose or forget your encryption key for your backup set, you will NOT be able to recover your files!!
Step 9
To start your RESTORE click the [START] button. You should see the restore process begin:

Step 10
Once the files have finished restoring you can click the [CLOSE] button to close the restore applet.
