TECHNOLOGY CHALLENGES IN THE EDUCTION INDUSTRY

Ensuring that faculty, staff and students have access to the applications, networks and Internet connections that they need during a busy school year is critical to offering quality education. It is also extremely challenging to do in a fashion that is secure, cost-effective and efficient. IT departments in school boards and other educational institutions face difficult challenges:

Multiple locations spread over a large geographic area with minimal IT support, present a huge challenge for everything from daily maintenance to timely responses to emergencies, support issues or technical or hardware failures. This creates a highly unstable and difficult to manage environment.

Last-minute IT changes or requests are hard to accommodate because it takes time to test and install. Often, the majority of IT work is left until the summer months.

Remote user support at multiple locations, some geographically remote, often requires time-consuming IT visits or an IT technician at each location. Neither option is efficient or cost-effective.

Meeting regulatory compliance for the safe and secure storage of school board or institutional data and information requires manpower that is simply not realistic in today’s shrinking educational budgets.

The need to protect students from inappropriate online content is recognized but how to do it on a budget remains a question. Nirix Technology can help.
